In the 1790s, the Spanish Governor of California commenced granting land concessions to Spanish Californians who had been generally retiring soldiers. These concessions were generally known as ranchos and consisted of 1000s of acres of land that were employed generally as ranch land for livestock.These places to remain range between primitive tent
